Our soils are mildly acidic, a direct result of their enrichment from volcanic material. Rich in organic matter, the soil favors good root distribution, allowing the roots to retain moisture and facilitating oxygenation. This combination of characteristics invigorates the plant and is just one of the many factors that contribute to the excellent quality of Burío coffee, proudly Costa Rican. The beans are harvested with extreme care and selectivity during the months of November to January.
